We welcome applications from all members of the community without reference to ability or aptitude, and irrespective of whether they are of the Christian faith, another faith or no faith, but we expect parents to respect the Christian ethos of our school. Radnage C of E Primary School values highly its Christian ethos, its close links with local churches and the Diocese of Oxford. We provide a distinctively Christian, yet inclusive, environment in which each child is motivated to acquire skills for life and a love of learning. As a church school, we welcome applications from Christian families, and those of other faiths or none. We ask all parents applying for a place at our school to respect this ethos and its importance to the whole school community. The Local Authority (the LA), is responsible for co-ordinating admissions to the Reception Year at the school, on behalf of the Governing Body. Details of the LA arrangements are in the Buckinghamshire booklet, available from the school and on-line. This also explains how parents can express a preference for a school and give reasons for that preference. Applications for entry to Radnage C of E Primary School in September 2017 must be received by 15th January 2017. Parents wishing to apply for the Reception Year in September 2017 must complete the Common Application Form provided by their home local authority. (The home LA). The home LA is the LA in whose area the parents live at the time of the application. Offers of a place will be made by the LA on 16th April 2017. Parents (see Note 1) will be given 14 days in which to accept an offer. This policy is in accordance with the co-ordinated admission scheme - the details of which will be published in the LAs composite booklet on admissions. Applications received after the deadline for receipt will only be considered after all those received by the deadline. This means that, if no places are left after considering all the applications received by the deadline, even if you fulfil a higher criterion than that under which places have been offered to other applications, you will be unsuccessful. At Radnage C of E Primary School, children are admitted to the Reception Class at the beginning of the school year (1st September) following their fourth birthday, without reference to ability or aptitude. Entry in September 2017 is therefore open to all children born between 1st September 2012 and 31st August 2013 either full time or part time dependent on the parents wish. If parents choose the part time option, and then wish to increase to full time before their child reaches compulsory school age, the parents must discuss with the Headteacher to agree a mutual commencement date. Parents may request that a child whose fifth birthday falls between 1st September 2016 and 31st March 2017 does not start at school until later in the school year 2017-18 when the child reaches compulsory school age (the term after the childs fifth birthday) if parents feel this is in the childs best interest. Under such circumstances, the school will hold the place for that child. Parents cannot defer entry until September 2018 for a child whose fifth birthday falls between 1st April 2018 and 31st August 2018. If the child has not been admitted to the Reception year in the school year 2017-18, a separate application must be made in the second half of the Summer Term 2018 for a Year 1 place in September 2018. There is no guarantee that a place will be available. The number of intended admissions to the Reception year for the year commencing 1st September 2017 is 14. Children will not be admitted earlier than the dates given above based on their birthday. Until the child reaches compulsory school age, parents may also request that s/he attends part-time. In such cases, detailed arrangements should be discussed with the headteacher. In-Year/Casual Applications for Academic Year 2017-2018 Applications should be made direct to the school All children with Statements of Special Educational Needs who name the school will always be admitted. Once these children have been admitted to the school then places are allocated in accordance with the following over-subscription criteria: Looked after children and children who were looked after, but ceased to be so because they were adopted or became subject to a residence order or special guardianship order. (See Note 2) Children (or a parent) who have exceptional medical or social needs that make it essential they attend Radnage C of E Primary School rather than any other. These needs must be fully supported by written evidence from the appropriate professional person involved with the family. (See Note 3) Children with a sibling on the roll of the school at the time of application and who is expected still to be at the school at the time of admission, who have a normal home address (see note 4) in the schools catchment area, ie Spriggs Holly Lane, Radnage and Town End, Bennett End, The City, Water End, Radnage Common, Bottom Road and Green End Road to just West of Chorley Green Farm. (A map is available from the school office). (See note 5). Children in the catchment area (see criterion no.3) without a sibling on the roll of the school at the time of application. Children out of catchment area with a sibling on the roll of the school at the time of application and who is expected still to be at the school at the time of admission. Other children. Proximity of the childs home, as measured by the straight line method used by Buckinghamshire County Council, with those living nearer being accorded the higher priority, will serve to differentiate between children in all criteria should the need arise. In the event of there being two identical distances for the last available place, the child for whom the place is offered will be selected by random allocation in the presence of someone independent of the school. Radnage C of E Primary School observes and operates the Fair Access Protocol in consultation with the LA. Any children in this category will be offered a place as soon as possible, even if the school is full, and that they will be given top priority on the waiting list. Further details are available from: www. http://www.buckscc.gov.uk/bcc/schools. Note 1: By parent, we mean a person who has parental responsibility for, or is the legal guardian of the child. If you are in any doubt, please contact the school for advice. Note 2: By a looked after child we mean one in the care of a local authority or being provided with accommodation by a local authority in the exercise of its Social Services function. Adoption orders come under the terms of the Adoption and Children Act 2002, section 46. A Residence Order is one settling the arrangements to be made as to the person with whom the child is to live. (Children Act 1989, section 8). A Special Guardianship Order is one appointing one or more individuals to be a childs Special Guardian/s. (Childrens Act 1989, section 14a). Applications under the criterion must be accompanied by evidence to show that the children is looked after or was previously looked after (eg a copy of the Adoption, Residence or Special Guardianship Order). Note 3: When applying under criterion 2 (exceptional medical or social needs), you must include supporting evidence from an independent professional person who is aware of the situation and support your reasons for preferring Radnage Primary School. This supporting evidence must clearly demonstrate why the school is the most suitable and must illustrate the difficulties that would be caused if your child had to attend another school. The person supplying the evidence should be a doctor, health visitor, social worker, etc who is aware of your childs or your own case. The school reserves the right to ask for further evidence or clarification where necessary and may seek the advice of appropriate educational professionals where necessary. Note 4: By normal home address, we mean your childs home address. This is your childs address at the time you make your application for a place. It is where you and your child live. We regard a childs home address to be where he or she spends the majority of the school week (Monday to Friday, including nights). We may ask to see official documentation, such as a child benefit book or medical card if there are reasons why a child does not live at his or her parents address. For example, if he or she is resident with a grandparent, you need to tell us this on the application form. If you do not declare any arrangements like this or use a relatives address for your application, we may consider that you have made a false declaration and withdraw the offer of a place. Childcare arrangements are not sufficient reason for listing another address. The school reserves the right to check the validity of any address given, by asking for evidence such as inclusion on the Electoral Roll, or a recent utilities bill confirming your name and address. If you are moving into the catchment area, we may ask for evidence of your move, before considering any application for a place. We will need to know that you will be resident in the catchment area on 1st September 2017. If you move after this date, we may still need evidence before considering an application. Note 5: This means a brother or sister, half brother or sister, adopted brother or sister, step brother or sister, or the child of the parent/carers partner where the child for whom the school place is sought is living in the same family unit at the same address as that sibling. In cases where there is one remaining place and the next child on the waiting list is of a twin, triplet or other multiple birth group, the following will apply: Twins and children from multiple births when one of the siblings is the 14th child admitted, the other sibling/s will be admitted. Appeals There are established arrangements for appeals against non-admission. Details are available from the school. It should be noted that, in the event of an unsuccessful appeal against non-admission, parents are entitled to a second application within the same academic year if there is a major change of circumstances, e.g. change of address. Waiting List The school maintains a waiting list for those children who are not offered a place; the order of priority on the waiting list is the same as the list of criteria for over-subscription. No account is taken of the length of time on a waiting list. The school periodically seeks confirmation that parents wish a child to be kept on the waiting list. The Governing Body has made every effort to comply with relevant legislation. Admissions September 2016 This will be included when we know appropriate numbers. All Other Admissions Admission to the school during the school year depends on whether or not there are places available. All year groups at the school have 14 places. Applications must be made directly to the school on a form available from the school office. Admissions outside the normal age group will be dealt with as indicated below. If there is a vacancy, and there is no child on the relevant waiting list with a higher priority, a place will be offered. In-year admissions or admissions at the beginning of school years other than Reception will only be considered by the Governing Body up to half a term in advance of the desired date for entry. For example, for entry in January, the application will not be considered until after the October half term break. Please note that the school does not have a normal point of entry to Year 3 applications for entry at the beginning of Year 3 are treated as indicated in this section. If parents are moving house, the school will ask for evidence of the move, before considering any application for a place. Documentary evidence in the form of a solicitors letter to confirm exchange of contracts, a rental agreement for at least a period of six months will be required (Armed Forces personnel are exempt). If you are returning from elsewhere, to live in a home that you own, we will require evidence to show that you have returned. We will also ask for evidence that any previous house owned has been sold or is being sold. We would not accept an address where the one given is that of a second home with the main home being elsewhere. If there are two or more homes, we will check which is the main home, and may refuse to base an allocation of a place on an address which might be considered only temporary. Nor would we accept an address where the child was resident other than with a parent or carer unless this was part of a fostering or formal care arrangement. We would not normally accept an address where only part of a family had moved, unless connected with a divorce or permanent separation arrangement, in which case we would require proof. Admission Outside Normal Age Group Requests from parents for places outside a normal age group will be considered carefully, eg for those who have missed education due to ill health. Each case will be considered on its own merits and circumstances. However, such admissions will not normally be agreed without a consensus that to do so would be in the pupils interests. The governors will ask relevant professionals for their opinion on the case. Those refused places outside the normal age group will be informed of their statutory right to appeal.
